Frankowski leads Fire over Revolution

BRIDGEVIEW, IL (April 3, 2008) – The Chicago Fire shut out New England 4-0 tonight in front of 15,553 fans at TOYOTA PARK. Fire forward Chad Barrett tallied the game-winning goal in the fourth minute. Polish international forward Tomasz Frankowski notched two insurance goals with midfielder Cuauhtémoc Blanco adding another off a penalty kick. Fire goalkeeper Jon Bush recorded five saves in his first shutout of the season.

Chad Barrett recorded the game winner after receiving a pass from Justin Mapp just behind the defense, in the fourth minute of play.

In the seventh minute of play New England defender Jeff Larentowicz received a red card ejection and the Revolution was forced to play down a man for the final 83 minutes.

Tomasz Frankowski scored the first of his two insurance goals in the 22nd minute, placing the ball in the net after a scramble inside the six-yard box. Cuauhtémoc Blanco was the third to score, converting on a penalty kick awarded to the Fire in the 37th minute. Frankowski scored his second goal in the 39th.

The Chicago Fire will return to the action on Saturday, April 12, as the team travels to Oakland, Calif. to face the San Jose Earthquakes at McAfee Coliseum (3:30 CT, FSC, FSE).
