Saturday nights 0-0 tie with the visiting Ft Wayne Fever was enough to get the Outrage a coveted play off spot after nearest challengers the Indiana Invaders picked up only one point over the course of the weekend.
Outrage head coach Stu Riddle was extremely pleased with his side's qualification "It's one of the goals the staff set the players at the start of the season so we are all delighted that we have achieved this in our first year. The important thing for the players is to now re-focus and realize that we still have a lot to play for"
The Outrage now turn their attention to a tricky away game at PDL powerhouse the Michigan Bucks on Wednesday. The Outrage defeated to Bucks on penalty kicks to win the Old Burdicks Challenge cup in pre season and the Bucks beat the Outrage 3-1 last month in regular season play. With the Bucks needing a victory to help secure the Central Conference regular season crown Riddle said the pressure was on the more fancied opponents "Were in a position where we don't have to win this match and they do so it may well be a good opportunity to give some players with injuries a rest and blood some youngsters and fringe players"
One certainty is that the Outrage will be without key midfielder Eric Alexander who is spending the week training with MLS side Columbus Crew. "It's an excellent opportunity for him and I have no doubt he will be a much better player for the experience" said Riddle.
Following the match on Wednesday the Outrage will know the location of their Midwest Division play off match with Chicago Fire Premier with the regular season divisional winners having the right to host the match next week. The Fire have one game remaining at home to basement side the West Michigan Edge on Wednesday.
The Outrage will return home to play an international friendly match against Canadian professional outfit the Windsor Border Stars this Sunday. The match with the Windsor Border Stars on July 20th will kick off at 1pm and will be played at Mayor's Riverfront Stadium in downtown Kalamazoo.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate with children aged 6-13 being charged $3, adults 14 and up $5.
